Ta Ha - Don Luong DVD

as lifted from an Adam Salo review....... "A few weeks back photographer, Ben Karpinski called me to pitch a gallery about the skaters in the "Ta-Ha" video. Though most of the skaters in the vid are fairly unknown outside of Northern Orange County, I went ahead with it because the photos were pretty sick and Karpinski doesn't over-hype stuff that isn't legit. We ran the skate photos along with some flicks from the video's premiere and I told Karpinski to send me the vid when it hit shops. Meanwhile, a leaked part from the video, Derrick Wilson's part, started popping off on YouTube and Wilson started getting a ton of calls from some heavy hitting teams looking to pick him up. I watched the bootlegged Wilson part and had to agree that he's got undeniable talent and swagger. I'm sure we'll be hearing and seeing more from Wilson in the near future and I look forward to watching his career take off. Yesterday I finally got to watch "Ta-Ha," filmer Don Luong's labor of love, for the first time in its entirety on DVD the way it's meant to be viewed. Damn it's good. Karpinski was not blowing smoke. The few big names you'll already recognize in this vid, Element's Nick Garcia and Julian Davidson along with Toy Machine's Johnny Layton and Daniel Lutheran, are matched in talent and impression by the upstarts with full parts who'll no doubt be getting more shine from the skate media soon. The video kicks off with a montage of slams that, although they show the crew was putting in work, is a little tired as an intro. Some of the slams are pretty brutal, too; keep watching or you won't want to go skate after. The first full part goes to Alec Jamir. He's got a smooth style and one of the cooler nollie back lip pop-overs in his part that I've seen. Following Jamir, Brian Price brings serious creativity to the table in both spot selection and trick selection. Jordan Vititow follows Price with some smooth skating. Garcia and Davidson, the two cousins on the Element am team share a part that's really good. Apparently, the next Element project is going to be all Hi-Def so Garcia and Wilson were able to run most of their solid VX clips in "Ta-Ha" Alec Jamir has the first part in "Ta-Ha" and it does not disappoint. Converse rider and Berrics regular, Ben Fisher takes his poised nose manual variations to street spots and his talent really shows. The video closes out with the already hyped Derrick Wilson part that really is amazing followed by the debut part, and ender, from Billy Davenport. When I realized that Wilson's part wasn't the curtains, I was immediately skeptical that some unknown could follow it up with something on par. Davenport doesn't disappoint though bringing a Zero team style assault to rails and gaps that should have his phone buzzing from potential sponsor calls soon as well." it's well done....check it out.. kevin
